ZteaM Cycling
Joins Forces with Road 2 Recovery (R2R) to host the start
of the September ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
San
Francisco, California (August 11, 2008)— ZteaM Cycling, a
national road cycling club, is joining forces with Road 2
Recovery (R2R), a cycling program that helps recovering
vets.
The 7-day ride will commence in San Francisco on September
28th where vets, some of whom are amputees, will join
participants and volunteers to follow a 420 mile trek to
Los Angeles. Held in partnership with the Fitness
Challenge Foundation, R2R raises money to support
Spinning® and outdoor cycling programs at Military and VA
locations around the U.S. to help injured veterans
overcome obstacles they face.
“R2R’s mission is suitable for ZteaM’s partnership with
the community” ZteaM’s founder Hunter Ziesing said. “Since
R2R uses cycling as a means for recovery and
rehabilitation, especially veterans suffering from loss of
limbs or mental illness such as Post Traumatic Stress it
is a logical fit for ZteaM.”
Fortunately due to medical advances, there are more people
making it off the battle field alive today but delivering
more injured vets for rehab.
“The numbers are astounding” said John Wordin, a former
Marine and founder of R2R. “We are very excited about our
new relationship with ZteaM as their national club
structure provides a place for vets and military officers
to join during and after their rehabilitation. Many of our
riders go on to race and want to be part of a strong and
active riding club.”
For only $125, ZteaM is asking the community to
participate in day 1 of the ride from San Francisco to
Santa Cruz or participants can do the full 7-day ride to
help raise over $4,000.
